AdaptIT Holdings honoured at a Mayoral Reception

“Such mayoral receptions are generally reserved for visiting dignitaries, high profile guests and business delegations” said Sbu Shabalala, CEO of AdaptIT Holdings whose company was honoured at a mayoral civic reception on the evening of Wednesday, January 24.

The honour bestowed on AdaptIT Holdings was for its marriage with InfoWave creating the first black owned IT company in KwaZulu-Natal to be listed on the main board of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and the largest ICT company in SA in terms of empowerment credentials.

In his congratulatory message, Deputy Mayor Logie Naidoo said the great work that SmartXchange was doing allowed SMME companies to grow and flourish under the leadership of its CEOs and members of the board.

“Fantastic progress has been made and the fact that Durban ICT companies frequently feature at ICT award ceremonies bears testimony. Tonight we celebrate the wonderful achievements of AdaptIT Holdings and we wish them every success in the future. The eThekwini Municipality will continue to support you and we all share the vision of creating a digital city,” said Cllr Naidoo.

Shabalala said AdaptIT Holdings and the eThekwini Municipality shared the vision of creating employment and fighting poverty..

“We are poised to increase our footprint in SA and abroad. This marriage allows us to leverage from the 12 years that InfoWave has been on the main board of the JSE whilst our talented employees unlock the potential to a great future. From our offices in Durban we are supporting customers all over the world.”

He said the company focuses on its core competencies of delivering solutions based on the Microsoft and Oracle platforms as well as keeping with the government’s Open Source strategy.

Eric Applegreen, head of international and governance relations at eThekwini municipality, officiated as the Master of Ceremonies wished the marriage well and encouraged other IT players in the city to follow AdaptIT Holdings’ lead.
